We’ve updated our list of white laptops for 2022. The best is still the Dell XPS 13 in Frost White, but is now available in a 2-in-1 form factor with a 10th generation Intel processor, from Amazon. For a more recently released option, the LG Gram is now available with a 12th generation Intel I5 processor.

If you’re a fan of electronics in a clean, minimal, white color, you’re in luck: there are many which are very capable laptops, on top of looking great.

We’ve researched dozens of white laptops to help you find a beautiful new computer. We’ve broken it down by size and type, so whether you’re into small or big laptops, built for portability or gaming, you’ll find something below.

Dell XPS 13 - White

A powerful, productive white laptop with sleek looks to match, excellent battery life, and build quality that can’t be beat.

Our favourite white laptop

For almost everyone, you can’t go wrong with the white Dell XPS 13. It’s a beautiful, thin and light laptop with excellent build quality. It comes in a range of configurations, so you can pick one that’s very powerful, or save some money with a less fast option. Some of the lower end options don’t come in the beautiful white option, though.

The XPS 13 is an Ultrabook, meaning it’s thin and light but not as fast or customizable as some of its larger cousins. As an Ultrabook, it will power through your regular web browsing, office, and basic productivity work, all while maintaining excellent battery life. It’s a 13 inch laptop so it’s a touch on the smaller side which is great for lugging it around, but if you prefer a bigger screen, read on for some larger white laptops.

The white version even comes with what Dell describes as an “arctic white woven glass fiber palm rest”. We found it to be smooth and sleek to the touch. Don’t let the Dell name fool you into thinking this is a sub-par corporate laptop - the XPS line is a premium set of laptops which has been winning glowing reviews for years now.

Downsides: the webcam is workable, but not great.

We love it because it’s a well-made, sleek, power-house, and highly portable.

Cheaper option

If you like the style and quality of the Dell XPS 13 but are put off by the high price tag, we recommend the LG Gram. It’s still not a cheap buy, but if you want quality at a lower price, you’ll want the LG Gram. It’s super thin and light, weighing just 2.2 lbs, while still being a quality, well-built laptop, now with a 12th gen Intel I5 processor.

It packs speed and punch into its incredibly thin and light frame, with a proper Intel 12th gen processor, so you won’t give anything up by picking this slender beauty. It even packs in a large battery, offering over 10 hours of actual usage.

It’s a great looking machine with a smooth white surface on the outer surfaces as well as the keyboard half of the inside. The area around the screen is black, but it makes for an attractive contrast.

Downsides: the speakers aren’t the best, and that big battery takes a while to charge.

We love it because it’s crazy sleek, affordable, and well-built.

LG Gram

Very light, very thin, powerful and well-built, at a reasonable price.

The best white gaming laptop

MSI makes a powerful, gorgeous white laptop with gold accents. That might sound a bit garish, but we think you might love the look. It comes with Intel’s 8th gen Core i7 processors so it’ll smash through any task you throw at it. It also has NVIDIA GeForce graphics, so it’ll play games or be great at photo and video editing, or other intensive productive pursuits.

Because it has Max-Q graphics, it’s powerful while also being thin and light. It’s got thin bezels so it’s screen size is even bigger than the body would suggest, and it’s got a large battery so you can get more done without plugging in. All this power and beauty doesn’t come cheap - this bad boy will set you back just over $2000 but we’ve seen it on sale for $700 off, which is a great deal.

The white version of this laptop is a limited edition, and comes with a slightly faster graphics card.

Downsides: pricey unless you need all that power.

We love it because it’s very powerful, thin and light, and gorgeous.

MSI P65 Creator

Incredibly powerful, capable of gaming or video and graphics work, yet thin and light.

The best white Chromebook

For those who weren’t aware, instead of Windows or MacOS, you can opt for Chrome OS. Made by Google, Chrome OS is a simplified operating system centered around the Chrome web browser. It doesn’t run desktop apps, but it does run Android apps. So while you can’t use it for Photoshop, you can use Google Docs, or run Fortnite for Android on it. They’re more limited machines and not as fast as a Windows laptop or Macbook, but that means they come at a lower price.

HP has a premium Chromebook at the moment called the HP Chromebook X2 that comes in a “ceramic white” color. Especially impressive is the fact that you can detach the base from the screen, turning it into a tablet with a touch screen - like some of Microsoft’s Surface devices, if you’re familiar with those - except this one’s quite a bit cheaper.

It’s got some premium components in there, so it’s not incredibly cheap like other plasticy Chromebooks, and that flexibility of detaching that base comes at a cost. That said, it doesn’t have a proper laptop CPU like an i5 or an i7. The performance is still pretty good though.

Keep in mind though, only the top surface is a beautiful white but the base and the inside areas are black. It’s a gorgeous machine though. Also, some models come with HP’s digital pen included, so you can sketch and take notes.

Downsides: for the price, you’d expect a better chip, and it’s limited by having Chrome OS instead of Windows.

We love it because it looks great, and the tablet mode is fantastic.

HP Chromebook x2

Converts into a tablet with industrial good looks. While the performance is a bit limited, the simplicity of Chrome OS can be a boon.

For a (much) cheaper white Chromebook, there’s the popular HP Chromebook 14 G5, which can be had for around $300, or $226 if you catch it at the right time like we did, when it’s on sale at Amazon.

It’s not the fastest laptop or the prettiest, and it’s not very thin, but you can’t argue with the price. It will be just fine for web browsing and word processing other basic tasks, so if you’d like to save your money but still have a laptop for college or university that gets the job done, you could definitely do worse.

It’s got an HD screen, a battery that lasts around 10 hours, and it cools itself without the need of a noisy fan, so it’s silent like a mobile phone. And remember, as a Chromebook, it can run Android apps.

Downsides: plasticy and a bit clunky.

We love it because it works, has a long lasting battery, and it’s super cheap.

HP Chromebook 14

The Chromebook 14 is a very affordable, yet perfectly workable, laptop alternative for those who don’t need Windows.

Making a white Macbook

Let’s get the bad news out of the way: Apple doesn’t make a white Macbook anymore. The closest you can buy is the silver variety of the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro. There are a couple of options though. You can get a skin - think a quality sticker - that goes over the top of your Macbook and makes it look naturally white.

As for choosing a Macbook, if you need to do advanced work like photo or video editing or software development, get a Macbook Pro. Otherwise, the Macbook Air. Apple makes choosing pretty simple. We will say, however, that you definitely won’t need a Touchbar, and probably won’t end up using it. Play with the options at your local Apple store and see what you like.

White Macbook skin

Although Apple doesn’t sell a white Macbook, you can get a quality skin sticker from dbrand for the top, bottom, and touchpad

Recap

Here’s all the white laptops we recommend.

For most people, we recommend the sleek, powerful, well-built Dell XPS 13.

If you’d like to spend a bit less, you’ll get much the same with the LG Gram, but you’ll sacrifice a bit of build quality and performance.

If you’re after a gaming laptop, or want a graphics card for other reasons such as for photo and video editing, get the MSI P65 CREATOR. It’s still thin and light (and a gorgeous white with only slightly garish gold accents) but you will pay for all that power.

If you’d like a simple machine, a convertible tablet, or a Chromebook, and want to save a buck in the process, get the HP Chromebook x2. It’s not as purely white as the others, but the silver and white combine for a striking industrial look, if you’re into that.

If you want a white laptop on a budget, you can’t get much more affordable than the HP Chromebook 13.
