A good keyword tool will allow you to input a keyword, and provide you with a list of related keywords, which are analyzed for how many searches are conducted, the level of competition for the keyword, and advertising metrics such as cost-per-click rates.
While results can’t be 100% accurate - as Google’s raw data isn’t available - a reasonable estimate is provided by a number of companies, some of which offer a free trial, or a free tier of usage.
